Another area in which neural networks excel is in the prediction of dog races. By providing a neural network with historical information on dogs, such as speed, positions during previous races, and earnings, the networks can use their advanced pattern matching capabilities to predict the outcome of future races. Dog races are influenced by a host of complex factors (sometimes up to 50 variables) that are often interrelated. While traditional methods of forecasting have great difficulty with such large data sets, neural networks have no such problems, quickly discovering relevant patterns and trends and producing accurate predictions.
